Habitat for Humanity of Craven County celebrates International Women's Day

Habitat for Humanity of Craven County celebrates International Women's Day, and launches Women Build Week, with a "Perceiving Strength" Women's Tea & Fundraiser on Tuesday, March 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Harrison Center on Middle Street in New Bern. In addition to tea served in beautiful teacups, and a selection of delicious finger sandwiches and pastries, a Silent Auction will offer an opportunity to bid on a variety of great items. Guest speakers during the evening include Bethany Richards, founder of The Bike Box Project in New Bern, and Amellia Jenkins, a single mother of two is working with Habitat for Humanity to build her own home. This event launches Women Build Week from March 8 through 12. Women can work all day or for only part of any day during the week, to help Amellia complete her home on Aycock Avenue in the Pembroke neighborhood. No construction experience is necessary. Tickets at $25 per person, or $200 for a table of 8, can be purchased at the website or by contacting Catherine Campbell at ccampbell@cravencountyhabitat.org or 252633-9599, ext. 104. Sign-up for Women Build Week at these same contacts.
